- In 1979, the state legislature recognized the Boston Terrier as the state dog of Massachusetts. The legislation was introduced by Hon. Gregory W. Sullivan, 12th Norfolk District [10]
- Rhett the Boston Terrier is the well-known mascot of Boston University. [11]
- It's namesake follows from the main character 'Rhett' from the hit novel Gone with The Wind.
